Heirloom Wedding Ring Quilted Coat – One of a Kind Amish Quilt Jacket

Every wedding ring has a backstory—and this is where this one begins.

This one-of-a-kind quilted coat began its life more than 20 years ago as a hand-sewn Amish wedding ring wall hanging, discovered in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The wedding ring pattern—long associated with love, continuity, and the joining of lives—was originally created as a decorative textile, meant to be admired rather than worn.

Measuring approximately 32” x 45”, the original quilt was too small to become an adult-size jacket without thoughtful redesign and careful construction. To honor both its history and its future, the quilt was carefully deconstructed at the arm seams, allowing space for a new coordinating back to be created.

The result is a coat where front and back share the same soft, time-worn color story, yet feature different layouts—complementary, but intentionally not identical. This balance reflects the heart of the wedding ring motif itself: connection without sameness.
