Shell & Stone Quilted Coat — Kaffe Fassett Cotton | Vintage Waterbury Brass Buttons | Women's Large

A wearable work of art inspired by ocean tides, spiraled shells, sandy shorelines, and maritime history.

This one-of-a-kind quilted coat was handcrafted by me for my Fabric & Soul collection using premium Kaffe Fassett quilting cottons inside and out, layered with soft lightweight cotton batting for beautiful drape and comfortable everyday wear. Every detail was thoughtfully designed and carefully constructed — from the perfectly aligned diagonal quilting lines across the body and pockets to the handmade sandy-gold binding inspired by Cape Cod beaches.

The swirling shell and wave-inspired fabric pairs beautifully with contrasting stone-pattern pockets and lining, creating movement, texture, and depth throughout the piece. The color palette blends black, golden yellow, grays, ocean blues, lavender, purple, and soft pinks for a striking yet timeless coastal aesthetic.

Finished with authentic vintage Waterbury Button Company brass military buttons from the 1970s U.S. Sealift Command, adding maritime history, heirloom craftsmanship, and distinctive coastal character to the design.

Each original button carries beautiful anchor detailing and was made by the historic Waterbury Button Company of Connecticut. These authentic military-spec brass buttons feature solid metal shanks and substantial weight, offering durability and true vintage character that modern replicas cannot replicate.
