The Chatham Quilt Coat – Daughter's Coat | Fabric & Soul Signature Collection
Part of the Fabric & Soul Signature Collection — pieces made from extraordinary vintage textiles that carry a history of their own.
This beautiful pink quilt followed me home from an estate sale in Chatham, Massachusetts. I wasn't sure what it would become — I only knew I couldn't leave it behind.
The peach, pink and white. The delicate florals. The hand quilting. And then I started cutting.
I hesitated. More than once.
The cotton batting inside was unlike anything made today — soft, lofty and resilient. Every stitch had been made by hand by someone I'll never know. And if you look closely, you can still see some of the faint pencil lines from the original quilting.
This quilt became two coats — a mother and daughter pair. The daughter's coat lets the beautiful patchwork and florals take center stage. The pinwheel star blocks in peach and pink floral toile are the star of the show, just as they were in the original quilt.
Two coats. One quilt. A story that gets to keep going.
The mother's coat is also available separately — a women's Medium with a soft corduroy collar and wool lining. Contact us if you'd like to purchase both as a mother + daughter pair ($650 for the set).

A Note on Vintage Materials
All fabrics used in this piece are reclaimed or upcycled. As with any textile that has lived a previous life, subtle signs of age — gentle fading, soft fraying, or a quiet patina — may be present. These are not flaws; they are part of the fabric's history and an intentional element of the design. They add character, authenticity, and charm that no new cloth can replicate.
Care Instructions:
Dry clean recommended to preserve the vintage textile
Spot clean if necessary; avoid bleach
Warm iron if needed
